Getting On And Off the Organic Bandwagon

When you call something a bandwagon, most people say, "Oh, I'm not on any bandwagon! I'm independant - I think for myself!".

So, when I use the words, "Organic" and "Bandwagon" together, many people are going to get defensive and wonder, "am I on a bandwagon?"

When my teenage daughter told me she was going to start "going Organic" I asked her why.

She told me it was healthier.

So, I asked her how she knows. She replied, "well, isn't it?"
I responded that some of the chemicals and modifications are used to keep viruses and worms out of the food - and does she think it's healthier to eat those?
I believe I made my rhetorical point to her, but there are millions of misinformed young people out there who just simply don't know to be skeptical about the marketing hype.

Perhaps that's why I was so entertained when DarkPalmer linked to this video about the exact same subject. The interviewer stops people on the streets to ask them why they eat organic. And as it turns out (not surprisingly) very few of them really understood it.

Looks like the marketing worked!

The video is actually very entertaining, so watch it and pass it around to your friends: http://www.monsanto.com/biotech-gmo/asp/guests.asp?id=WhatsForLunch

MiniMe Sex Tape - So Sick You Have to Look

Ok, if you're going to write a story like this:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/2205045/Mini-Me%2C-star-of-Austin-Powers%2C-sues-over-dwarf-sex-tape.html

Then you should be required by law to provide a link to the damn video.

What am I talking about? Well, if you're too lazy to click the link. Bascially the "Mini Me" guy from Austin Powers was involved in a sex tape. And he's suing.

The star, who stands 2ft 8 ins tall, has filed a $20 million (£10 million)
lawsuit claiming invasion of privacy and breach of copyright.

...

He made the tape with a former girlfriend, an American model in her
20s.

Mr Troyer filed his lawsuit at a court in Los Angeles and also requested
and injunction banning further distribution of the film.

Ok, so who has a link? TMZ Does: http://www.tmz.com/2008/06/25/mini-me-sex-tape-avert-your-eyes/

They're correct though, you can't un-see it. So think it through before you watch.

A More Realistic View of the News

We all suspect that most of what you read or hear in the news is pretty much made up, right? Well the good folks over at The Onion (http://www.theonion.com/) don’t even try to cover it up.

This satirical look at the news is so off-the-wall, so weird, so seemingly pointless, you’d almost swear it was real.

And that’s the point.

Also, when you visit The Onion, don’t forget to dig down into their coverage of the 2008 Political Season. The section is called “War for the White House” (http://www.theonion.com/content/whitehousewar) and it is well worth the read!
